This is so cool!

This really is amazing! Check it out. This website is amazing - they actually have photographs of almost every school in the world. Unless you went to school when cameras weren't invented, you will find a photo of yourself or at least your classmates. Click on the title of this blog entry and then enter the name of your school and year that you were there.

Did you find yourself? I don't know if I found ME, necessarily, but I certainly found my friends!

What to do, what to do...

So, late last night I got a call from a friend of Laurel's... Laurel requested that her friend call me immediately to tell me (along with the friend she had calling me) that she didn't want us coming to the funeral in West Point because "it would be too hard." She thinks she can't keep things together if we're there, for some reason.

We're really caught in between a rock and a hard place. I really want to pay my respects to Stephen (AND be there for Laurel, although just in the background.... I expect I won't even get to say hello to her if we do go to the funeral--and that's okay), but I don't want to go against the wishes of Laurel. I don't want her to regret not letting us go to the funeral.... I'm just not sure she knows what she wants right now.

Stephen's memorial is tomorrow, so maybe she will have decided she needs all the support she can get at the actual funeral next week. It's so hard to know what will end up being the right thing to do in the long run.

Sad news...

Rest in peace, Stephen. Know that we love you and you will be missed... and we will take care of Laurel and Alex to the best of our abilities. Thank you for making her so happy for the short years you were given, and for serving this country with the passion that you did.

Read a wonderful article about Stephen and fellow Captain "Jay" Harting here.

For those of you who don't understand the connection here, Stephen was the husband of one of my closest friends, Laurel. This has been difficult for me, even though I didn't know Stephen as well as I would have liked. My heart hurts for my friend and her dear baby.... and for the rest of their extended families.

My heart also goes out to the family of Captain Harting. You all are in my prayers.
