Happy Holidays!

I have been pretty lax in keeping this blog up, but have done more blogging at MySpace because I tend to think more people see that one.... I'm also hesitant to attract many people to this blog because I have such very personal stuff from some dark times hidden within my entries here. I hate to open that up to people who really are only interested in my blog for entertainment value, not those who really care to know what it is like to be in my skin.

At any rate, I am thankful for my life, and I am thankful for a fairly uneventful end to another year. My children are excited for the holidays, and I'm just looking for some much sought-over peace and quiet before the insanity that hits when my parents become snowbirds in January.

Happy holidays to anyone who runs across this--friend, relative, or complete stranger. Whatever it may be that you celebrate, my wish is that it is refreshing and wonderful for you this year.

I'll work on that. I do blog on MySpace regularly, but I know that many of you don't do that sort of thing. For those of you who do.... My Myspace page

Nightmare or no?

I had the scariest dream last night--that I was pregnant again. All that I could think of was NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I have to deliver another baby?????!!!! Labor pain is still too vivid in my mind to make this truly a scary thought. I just realized a minute ago that this was what I dreamed about last night, and then I realized I AM NOT and have NO PLANS to become pregnant ever again. This made me smile. =)

It's been a while since I've actually posted more than just a link here, so thought I'd update anyone who comes here on the latest happenings in our home.

In the end of February I made an appointment for Hunter to meet with a psychologist friend of my aunt's because he was coming up on two years old and not talking. I probably wouldn't have done much about it, except for the fact that he also has quirky behavior like lining up items and studying the edges of tables, etc. We took Hunter in, and were given the recommendation of getting him into Early Intervention with the school district and also going to see someone at a local children's therapy center. The evaluations at all three places left us really busy for a couple of weeks, but thankfully those are all done. What this now means is that Hunter has some form of therapy (speech, OT, or a combination of both) five days a week. The consensus is that he has a problem with sensory processing, and I was even told he could be a high-functioning autistic (though the lady saying that couldn't "diagnose" him as such). So far, so good. We've been in therapy for a few weeks now, and he's already starting to add things to his vocabulary. We just started OT last Friday, so no new advances there yet. My hope is to attack this aggressively and have him as well-prepared as I can to start school when he's 4 or 5. I've only had one person say they thought we were being silly doing all of this. Why should I wait until he's of school age to suddenly figure out I haven't helped him out at all and he's got all these delays??? I THINK NOT.

The therapy situation is trying because I really need to spend a lot of time reviewing things with Hunter, and I have taken on more responsibility through the transcription service, meaning I've tripled my workload over the past few months. I've been trying to tough it out because we can really use the cash, but I'm not sure how much longer I can make it work. It is also difficult getting in naps before going to get Logan from school, so we are just hanging on until Logan is out of school for the year.

In January I had seriously considered pulling Logan out of school and homeschooling him. He was having a ton of issues in his classroom with acting out, fighting, and crying. His teacher and I knew it was related to Ethan's birth, but I had been hoping that he was old enough to not have to have the big adjustment to the new baby. We also discovered that private school isn't in the budget right now. While money is still an issue, we decided to keep him in his school until the end of the school year and make the decision then. I don't like driving in to pick him up from school anymore, especially now that I'm doing all the driving for Hunter's therapies. If I had the money, though, I'd keep him in school there. I'm currently mulling over the thought of sending him to school with the rest of the kids on the boulevard for a year (or a semester) to see how he does there. I really don't want to, but I'm not sure that homeschooling on top of all of Hunter's stuff will work out. I welcome any ideas/suggestions/advice on this, because I'm kind of in a quandry about it all.

Billy is still working the crazy hours. I hate it, but we think he will need to stay there for a while until we can get our finances in order. They are trying to hire a new employee, but it does take months to train any new person, so it's not a quick fix in any sense of the word. Especially when they are talking about picking up A LOT more work once the third guy is in place.

I am still T-Tapping, if anyone cares. I attended a monthly class in Flint from January until this month, but now we don't have a place to meet. I am trying to recruit new people (most notably my mom and Billy), so hopefully that'll work. Teresa's book came out last week Here it is at Amazon. It's a great book, and comes with a DVD that is very well done. I am a little frustrated because I'm working out hard and trying to keep a better eye on what I eat (not going so hot this weekend, though), and I'm just STUCK. I haven't drank pop in 2-1/2 weeks, which I thought would make a huge difference. I just feel like my body is trying to hold on to everything because of my stress level. I am going to stick to Tapping and hope that something will click eventually. I am so sick of having nothing to wear, and I refuse to buy more clothes at this size!!!!

After little to no riding this winter, I have gotten to ride quite a few times in the past couple of weeks. This is doing wonders for my sanity, which is just holding on by a thread most days. Thanks to my T-Tapping, I have many of my riding muscles in place despite the long break. It doesn't mean I'm not a sore mofo when I'm done, but at least I can stay on.

Ethan is now about five months old, and as adorable as a boy with a skullet can be. Haha. He is truly a good and loving baby, and I'm so proud to say he sleeps mostly through the night most nights. Billy says it's time to move him to his own room, but he usually requires a pacifier between 4-6 a.m., and it's much easier just to reach over and do that than having to run up a flight of stairs to find out he's cried himself awake for the morning.

I guess that's most of our news--well, all I can think of so far. I'll add more later if it comes to mind.

Where has the time gone?

Wow... it has been a month since my last post... I can tell you why, too. It's because nothing of real significance is going on here. Either that, or I've been in a bad mood and didn't want to post it for the whole world (and my entire family) to read.

For those of you familiar with the postpartum depression saga I endured (just barely!) after Hunter, I am happy to say that this time around it's about 50% better. I am not saying I don't have "those days" anymore, but I think that I am so much more used to the lack of freedom that having a baby means that it wasn't as big of a slap in the face after having Ethan. I know that sounds cruel, like having a baby sucks all the life out of you.... But it was a little bit true, after having Hunter. I had been living a life where I was able to go to the Y for a few hours, several times a week. I could walk my dog without messing with strollers and bundling up babies. I could go jump on a horse if I felt daring enough to do it in winter temps. I could go into the bike store and actually bring in a little bit of a paycheck. Logan was in school, after all. When I had Hunter, this came to a dead, screeching halt. We won't even mention that I was also in the process of building the new house, selling the old, and babysitting a neurotic German Shepherd that insisted on being at my side at all times when not tormenting the other two dogs. And did I mention my husband was working far too much overtime?

So this time, situations are a bit different. Logan is in school, but now I have to drive 25 minutes each way to pick him up instead of the five minutes we were dealing with when Hunter was a baby.... and I have to pack up two children to do so. The dogs are still here, and much more manageable now that we have an invisible fence and they can no longer roam the neighborhood (and I don't have to walk out with one of them on a leash now, YAY!!!). I have only been able to stare at the horses for about three years, so what's new about that?? And, yep, Billy is still working the big overtime and not seeing checks that would prove it.

I am trying my hardest to be good at being a stay-at-home mom. I am cooking, planning grocery strategies (complete with coupons, which is a big first for me), taking care of all of the animals, trying to pick up after Hunter and everyone else, etc. I figure that since I can't get an out-of-the house job due to Billy's erratic work schedule, I will try to save money in the places I can. I am working on a budget, getting tips from Dave Ramsey's website. I dropped DirectTV, for goodness sake, which is a big deal to anyone who knows me (I am a HUGE TiVo junkie). I am packing lunches. I am babysitting. I am selling things on eBay. I am training to do a call-center job at home in my SPARE TIME (HA!!). I am trying to drum up more transcription work, with no success so far. I am doing just about everything I can think of to make my house welcoming to Billy when he comes home from work, short of real deep-cleaning. It is difficult to get it all done between Ethan and Hunter, as they don't seem to coordinate napping, and Ethan only takes cat naps during the day, anyway. It seems like he is always crying as I'm trying to finish SOMETHING up (including showering).

I think that potentially I may have a breakdown just trying to keep it all going. I reached a really low point last night when Billy decided to lay down with Hunter, who didn't want to sleep in his room alone. This was after I had only seen him for maybe two hours (if that). I knew he would fall asleep in Hunter's room, so I proceeded to take care of what needed to be done--including things that he should have done, such as taking out the garbage--all while listening to Ethan fussing in the bedroom, waiting to be fed.

I guess it was frustrating to me because I had been up since 4 or 5 a.m., and I didn't get to go to bed until 11 p.m. And when I woke up this morning, I proceeded to find dirty laundry left all over the place. This is a minor issue, really it is. It's just grating to me because... Oh, I don't know....

I do so hate to post these negative entries, but I've needed to vent for a while. I am not in bad shape, really, but I certainly know I'm not 100%. I am praying to God to take away this negativity, so I'm trusting that it will happen.
