Baby is here!

Isaac has arrived!! We have not yet picked a middle name, but we'll get there eventually. He weighed in at 8 lbs. even, and was 21 inches long.

He was born July 11th at 2:49 a.m. in the birth tub at our home, under the watchful eye of my midwife and sister, Wendy, and my friend and midwife apprentice, Christa. My husband and mother were the only other two there.

There were no complications, and only a little tear that I opted to let heal on its own versus putting in a couple of stitches. I feel pretty good, and can move fairly freely.... I even went upstairs a couple hours ago to get something from the baby's room.

Now if only we could get his days and nights rearranged......

D-Day has come and gone.

Well, here I am, the day after my due date--which was adjusted from July 10th to July 9th a couple weeks ago. Waiting for boy #4, tenderly nicknamed "Baby Elvis", to grace us with his presence. I am crampy. I am uncomfortable. I am nervous. But most of all, I am worried. Billy has been up since 3-ish a.m. vomiting, and I'm praying that it is not something I can catch. I'm also praying that he regains his strength so he is some help to me should I go into labor anytime soon. Yiiiikes. It never ceases to amaze me how incredible God's sense of humor can be, and how unfunny I can find it! LOL!

Have had a fairly good week so far, spending time with friends and family doing things that will be a tad more difficult when Elvis is here. Life is changing.

Unsolicited Something.

Okay.

I realize that my situation is sort of funny, and that I don't take it very seriously. In fact, strike that... I don't really think my situation should be really all that hilarious to anyone, now that I think about it.

Why do people keep saying, "better you than me?" What is that supposed to mean?? Better you not have an added child in your life than me? In a family of kids I've had to drag from therapy to therapy for the last three years? A child who pretty much will be born with the knowledge that it's likely to restart all over again? Another child born into a family where I can't even have decent health insurance because of speech and development delays and, therefore, are totally wallowing in random medical bills because they also don't cover any maternity care... No, no, you're absolutely right. Way better me than you.

Ugh.

I swear I'm alive!!

I just haven't really had the words lately. We've been busy with random appointments, illnesses, trips, and blah blah blah. I haven't really had that much to say even in my top-secret place where I pretty much give an unedited view into my warped psyche. Can you believe that??!! I sure can't.

Of course, now is that point of the blog when I make the half-hearted promise to check in here more often--but we sort of know how that goes!
