A restless evening at the Henderson household.

Last night was strange. We watched Stepford Wives (also strange, but not horrible), and went to sleep. In the middle of the night I smell this smell. A smelly smell that smells smelly, in the immortal words of Mr. Crab. I'm thinking, "What is that? Oh great, one of the dogs has pooped in their crates, and is now making finger paintings." It was seriously bothering me for several hours. The worst part was that my nose is still stuffy, so I couldn't figure out what it was exactly. And I didn't want to go down and wake up the dogs. Our Abby WILL NOT shut up if she thinks you're awake and ignoring her. Well, Billy went down about about 6:45 a.m., armed with paper towel, Nature's Miracle, and a trash can--prepared for the worst. Come to find out, it didn't smell in the basement. What it actually was was a skunk wandering around outside. I was so stuffed up I couldn't pinpoint that awful smell. I just knew it wasn't right.

If you're a guy or just don't care about female worries, don't read on.

Today I am feeling more hopeful about my hormonal normalcy. My last... ahem... cycle came without mood swings, crying, or really any remarkable event at all. Now, it has only been a few months, but I have been able to go "Aha! So that's why I was a blubbering mess!" every time up to now. It may have helped that I sort of insisted I go out to mess around with the horses yesterday. As you have probably figured out by now, my horses (generally) aid in my sanity; i.e., they're worth their weight in gold, as far my family is concerned. This uneventful month has given me hope that maybe things are getting back to normal.... maybe my stress levels are going down, too?

On a somewhat-related note, I found out this weekend that a lady I used to babysit for is having triplets, God willing. She is not doing well, and they are preparing for the worst. So please pray for this family, and especially the mother, Terri. I stayed with them 5-7 days a week for about 2 months when their first child was born prematurely, and she had a lot of depression and anxiety issues that very much incapacitated her and made her scared of her beautiful child. I cannot understand how someone that affected could so easily forget.... I am certainly not anxious for another child anytime soon because I do not enjoy the feelings I've had in this postnatal period. But, then again, that is just me.

Well, off to be productive!

Just a note, also please pray for my friend Jenny Wiser. She had her baby yesterday afternoon. She was 23 weeks and weighed 1lb. 1oz. She was breathing and doing fairly well as of 7:30pm. That was my last report. She had to have some sort of procedure done to get something out of her lungs that wasn't supposed to be there. I moped around all afternoon and evening just contemplating what Scott & Jenny are feeling and dealing with. It makes me cry just writing this. We have no predictions on if she'll make it. I read on the internet that babies born at 23 weeks have a 24% chance of survival. Just pray. -Melinda

Oh wow... Yes, we'll definitely be praying. Please keep me updated. I think Wendy was going to try to stop up to see her (her friend was in the hospital today, too), so maybe she did.

On a more positive note, I talked to Beth about this and she said that her doctors were very optimistic about babies surviving outside the womb at the 23-week mark. She said she was personally relieved once she made it past that mark with the twins--there was THAT MUCH emphasis put on it. So, think positive.... God has allowed technology to come a long way! And miracles still happen!

At the same time, I can't imagine this scenario as my reality.
